About NewGame+

My mission is to support gamers who feel stuck or hopeless by offering a stable, understanding space grounded in lived experience. Through therapy we can deepen self-understanding and build real, sustainable change. I aim to help you start your own “New Game+”, overcoming challenges, reconnecting with yourself, and creating a life which feels meaningful and true to who you want to be.

I started NewGame+ because, through my own experiences, I know how little support there is for gamers who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or behind in life. I know what it’s like to struggle, to feel isolated, and to wish someone understood your world.

I support people dealing with mental health struggles, loneliness, relationship issues, and challenges around gaming and/or technology. My approach is honest, down-to-earth, and free of judgment. Together, we’ll work on helping you restart, learn, and try again — in a way that feels right for you.

The UK is currently in a mental health crisis

The UK is facing a growing mental health crisis, with year-on-year increases in mental health difficulties across most areas. The statistics highlight just how serious the situation has become, but behind every number is a real person: a sibling, a partner, a friend, quietly struggling to cope.

These trends reflect a combination of economic pressure, social isolation, and gaps in mental health support. Rising living costs, housing insecurity, and a struggling job market have all increased stress and uncertainty. Changes in how people connect have also played a role. Heavy use of social media, online gaming, and dating apps can contribute to comparison, rejection, and reduced face-to-face interaction, which for some people intensifies feelings of loneliness, isolation, low self-worth, and depression.

About Me

Hi I'm Kris

I’m the founder of NewGame+, created to support gamers who struggle in ways I once did, and sometimes still do. This work is deeply personal to me, and rooted in a genuine desire to make a difference for those who are experiencing similar things to what I have.

Growing up, gaming was a huge part of my life. As a child and teenager, it gave me joy, connection, and a sense of acceptance. In online spaces, I felt valued for who I was, rather than what I achieved. As I got older, gaming became a safe space, somewhere I could relax and escape the pressure of expectations from others and from myself.

As I transitioned into adulthood and tried to live up to ideas of what it meant to “be a man”, I began to feel like I wasn’t enough, in my work, in my relationships, and within myself. Something felt broken. That began to change when I found the HealthyGamerGG community and engaged in group coaching alongside personal therapy. For the first time, I experienced how powerful it can be to talk openly, understand myself more deeply, and face the things I had been avoiding.

Through counselling, I was able to shift how I saw myself, recognising that I was enough, while also developing the tools to navigate challenges in relationships and work more confidently. That experience shaped both who I am and how I now work with others.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling and am currently studying a Master’s degree in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy. I hold a membership with NCPS and am a student member of UKATA. These are ethical bodies which give me guidelines to make sure I am supporting others in a professional way and to the highest standard I am able.

I always work towards continuing my learning and professional development as it's important to me, because you deserve mental health support that is safe, informed, and delivered with care and integrity.

What I Offer

Therapy with me is at the heart of NewGame+. Working with me as your therapist will feel like having a chat with someone who genuinely cares about what you are experiencing — someone who can relate to your experiences and is committed to understanding them.

Through this approach, you will be heard and seen in a way which allows you to process emotions, gain insight, and make changes that are specific to you and supportive of your mental health.

If you are looking for a community where you can feel connected to like-minded people who may be struggling in similar ways, I hope NewGame+ can be that place. Somewhere you can go to not feel alone, share experiences, and support one another through difficult times. You’re welcome to join any of our socials to connect with others and feel free to ask me any questions, and I’ll do my best to respond.

Practice and Fees

Practice

I offer a free initial consultation, held online, which usually lasts around 30 minutes. This gives us the opportunity to talk about what you’re currently experiencing, for you to ask any questions, and for us to decide together whether we feel like a good fit.

Therapy sessions are available either in person or online. In-person sessions take place in Aylesbury, where I hire a private counselling room. Online sessions are offered via Zoom or WhatsApp.

Sessions are usually held either once a week or once every two weeks, these can be arranged as appropriate. Standard sessions last 50 minutes, with longer sessions of 1 hour 20 minutes available if needed.

You can view the in-person therapy rooms here:

Fees

Fees are based on a 50-minute session and operate on a sliding scale depending on income:

  • Under £28,000 p/a – £40

  • £28,000 – £42,000 p/a – £50

  • £42,000 – £65,000 p/a – £60

  • £65,000+ p/a – £70

Evidence of income is not required. I work on a trust-based system and ask that clients choose the fee band that best reflects their circumstances.

Fees are payable by bank transfer and are due prior to each session. If your financial circumstances or availability change, session frequency and fees can be reviewed together to ensure therapy remains accessible and supportive.
